BadgerCare+

What is BadgerCare+?

BadgerCare+ is a new program for children and families in Wisconsin who need and want health insurance.   The program became available on February 1, 2008.

BadgerCare+ is for all kids, regardless of income.

BadgerCare+ is about more than just kids.   It also offers access to comprehensive, affordable health care to working families and pregnant women in Wisconsin.

BadgerCare+ is simple.   It is easy to complete an online application at access.wisconsin.gov/.

Health Care:

Medicaid or BadgerCare+ is the health care program that provide health insurance to low-income families, children, pregnant women, and the uninsured to help keep families healthy.   These programs must meet State and Federal eligibility standards and they do not have a time limit.   Families at the high end of the income limit will have a small monthly premium.

Food Share:

This program helps eligible persons and families buy food they need for good health.   Food stamp benefits come as a swipe card that can be used in most grocery stores.   Food Stamps are based on income and assets, and do not have a time limit.

Wisconsin Works (W-2):

W-2 provides a wide range of employment services and training to help eligible Wisconsin residents get and keep employment.   W-2 also provides work experience positions through community service jobs, and other work-readiness placements.   Work experience positions have monthly payments based on participation.   W-2 offers: Trial Jobs, Community Service Jobs, W-2 Transitions, and Case Management services.   Other services under the W-2 program are Education and Training, Custodial Parent-Caring for an infant, Minor Parent services, Non-custodial Parent services and Learnfare.

Emergency Assistance:

If you are facing a current emergency due to fire, flood, natural disaster, energy crisis, or homelessness (including potential evictions) you may receive up to $150.00 per family member.   Income and assets will be verified to qualify for this program.
